When I got my skis, one had the oil vent line connected to the tank and the other end just lying in the hull (had a huge tear in the line too) the other ski didn't have any line attached to the fitting. question is....do i need to attach vent hoses to these fittings or can i just let them be and they will vent themselves through the fitting without the hose. My 92 ski has a little vent hole on the right side of the hull with a tube attached but I think this may have been to vent the battery. I now have maintainence free batteries so I no longer need to vent...you think I could hook this line to the oil tank and vent this way if I have to? thanks for the input.

Oil vents don't have to vent to the outside of the hull. Some models have a connection for a check valve that is literally sitting on the top of the tank.

The "extra" vent hose is for the Yuasa batteries (non-sealed). In theory you could use it for the oil vent (at least the check valve section). Just make sure the check valve is oriented the correct way!

All vents should be oriented "away from the inside". So oil vent should blow out "from the tank side" but restrict flow "going back into the tank". Same with fuel vent.
