I have a 96 SPX that developed a oil leak over the winter. I live in a northern climate so I fear the block is cracked. I winterized it the same way I have for the first 13 years, nothing different. I have tried to find where the oil came from but as we all know trying to see anything in the engine compartment even with manifolds and mufflers removed and using a mirror is difficult. The bottom of the hull was full of oil, not just a few ounces. The oil pump is external to the block right so how would a cracked block allow the oil to leak out? I have checked the hose that leads to the pump from the reservoir and actually pulled it off and reconnected it and tightend the clamp. I guess a compression check might tell me something? Any possibly the reservoir itself is leaking, it sits below the gas tank so once again it is very hard to see anything without pulling everything out.

I am not getting any replies but is it possible the tank is leaking? I saw a couple of posts that mentioned that the tanks can split at a seam.
