Oil leak from intake grate (Merc 210 SJ)

So I put my 2001 Seadoo Sportster with the 210 Merc up for the winter and once it started getting cold I noticed a very very small oil leak coming from the rear of the intake grate. I've ran this boat for years and never had an oil leak before. Upon further examination it appears that there's a "pit" in the impeller housing right above where the oil is leaking from. I prodded it and it appears that it might be the source of the leak.

Has anyone experienced this before? And what is the next course of action? Is there some kind of sealant or welding that can be done or does the housing need to be replaced? Thank you!

It appears that your oil is coming from the rear of the pump. You are very lucky.

You will need to remove the stator, spill the oil that is in it. Then drain completely.
There is a shaft seal visible as you look into the shaft hole. Replace that seal. Inspect the shaft carefully for nicks or scratches in the seal area. Any flaw is a possible oil leak. Reassemble and refill with Merc High Performance Gear Lube. While you are down there, you should change the gear lube, too. Same oil. Need 2 quarts total. There are detailed instructions on changing the oils here on this website.

Thank you! This is good news. New seal on the way.
