Oil Leak from Bolt: what is it?

Hello, I’m still in the break in (4hr) of my 2024 wake pro 230 and got an oil alarm when riding today. I brought the ski back to the dock and opened the engine cover. I found a noticeable amount of oil in the bottom of the ski. When I started it up, I found the oil was seeping through a bolt/screw on the back top right of the engine, behind the oil filter. It’s a T30 and goes in horizontal. It’s right above the split line / head gasket of the engine. What is this? Can I just tighten it? Should I be concerned about other issues (will top off oil). I tried adding a photo, the bolt is silver and just to the right of the zip tie in the photo.

Should be under warranty. Take back to dealer immediately.
If you use after the alarm went off, they may say you caused the damage if any is found.

thanks… any idea what this bolt is for? Is it just a plug? I am bringing it back to the dealer, but also would like to know what this is to make sure there aren’t any other issues.

You will need to post a picture. Many bolts in that area.
If you have a picture, display it on your computer, use MS Windows snip tool to capture a section of it and then copy / paste it directly in the message and send/save

Sorry thought it was attached to the first post. Adding it again here… if it doesn’t work, maybe there’s a minimum number of posts I need to make before I can add an attachment? I’m uploading from my phone not computer.

Don’t think the picture attached again.
The bolt I’m talking about is in the back right corner of the engine when looking from behind the ski. It’s on the bottom right corner and just above the head gasket. Access to it is right behind the oil filter housing.

One more attempt at uploading picture from my phone…tried reducing file size. The bolt is just to the right of the zip tie. Oil filter cover is in the foreground.

This looks like the oil pressure plug in the head. I recognize it because of what appears to be the head gasket below it. I just installed an oil pressure gauge on my 2005 RXT 215 in this port.

Should not be leaking.

My plug was flush to the face of the head. Hopefully someone did not over tighten the plug and crack the head.

Yeah that’s it what you’re pointing to, and that is the head gasket just below it. So it’s just a plug then?
My guess is that the factory cross threaded it, leading to seeping. Which would stink if they have to re-tap that port due to limited access, plus not sure where the shavings will all go. Will see what the dealer finds…as you noted, it is still under warranty…

When you removed the plug, was there Teflon tape or anything on the threads?

None of the plugs had tape on them. It looked like some kind of liquid sealant which also locked them in place was applied to them.

Following up on this just in case anyone else has this issue. I brought mine to the dealer and a few days later heard back that there is a recall or technical bulletin (haven’t heard exactly which one) for this issue. The dealer is still waiting for a response from BRP as to what to do. Sounds like this is just affecting 2024 models.

Found a Reddit thread that shared similar experiences.
