Oil injection working?

How can I check to see if my oil injection is working - I am currently on vacation with limited tools and abilility - but do have lots of rum!!

If you have access to a dremel that puts out high rpms you could hook it up to the pump and see if it pumps out oil.

no I only have hand tools and a skill saw.....I ran it today and no problems - But I did forget to check the oil level to see if it went down - used 1/2 tank gas.

premix the gas. 50 to 1. if it starts to smoke a little too much, then you will have an idea the pump works. keep it premixed until you are sure it is oiling. smoke means you have enough oil. lots of smoke means you have plenty!

Very good sugestion Derek. Premix untill you know the oil consumption of the injection system. You may have to replace the spark plugs more often but once you can confirm that the oil injection is close to 50 to 1 or even 60 to 1 than you should be ok. You will need to still perform maintenance on the oil injection system to be sure that all hose are good and so forth. a new injection pump may not even be a bad idea for security. :cheers:

Pre mix it?

I am a bit concerned about mixing oil types.

If your injector has synthetic, but you pre mix petroleum base oils, will it gel in the crankcase?

Do not premix the two different oils. If you premix, use the oil in your tank.

To check your pump, read your plugs. If your not oiling, your plugs will show you that. If your not oiling and riding, you'd already know that. If you used half a tank gas and the engine is still running, your oil system is working.

What symptoms?

And, I typically use LUCAS oil in all the fuel in my autos. Gas in the last few yrs has been thoroughly dried out, of oil. It improves the MPG enough to more than pay for the oil.

Any comments on using it in a sea doo?
