It worked fine till the end of the summer. Then i covered it for the winter ( I live in Phoenix AZ) and now it wont restart. Last year I changed the fuel lines. I just finished taking the carbs apart celaned them and reinstalled them. I also changed the sensor in the tank last year. But now I try to turn over and no fuel in the engine and there is 3/4 fuel in the tank. I opened the fuel filter in the fron and no fuel in there. Then I retried starting it and nothing.Still no fuel in the filter. Can anyone help me? I am new to the forum. 98 GTX Limited

Pour a little pre-mixed fuel down the carbs, and get it to fire.

Sometimes, if the pump parts are dry and stiff... it's hard for it to draw fuel. If you can get the engine started... it may draw. If it doesn't... remove the fuel line at the carb, and suck on it to make sure the system isn't clogged. (use a pump, not your mouth) If it's clear... you will need to check the pump in your MAG carb.

My 99GTX did the same thing when I first rebuilt the engine and carbs. What I did, in addition to Dr Honda's suggestion, was remove the fuel filter/water seperator bowl and fill it with fuel mix. Then before reinstalling just coat the O ring with a small amount of vaseline to help the O ring seal.

In addition, SeadooSnipe gave me some cool advice to prime my fuel system after rebuilding my engine and replacing all my fuel lines.

Take the airbox off, put a plastic bag over the air intake so it gets virtually no air. Turn it over a few times until it fires and dies. Then take the bag off and try it again. It seriously primed my completely dry system after about 10 seconds. Been running ever since.

Anyway, just another option for you to try. Obviously it might not work if there is an issue with your pump parts. But you could try it.

i think I found the problem. the returns are clogged. There are 2 returns one that goes on the side of the Ski in the front and the other one is by the right sidecover by seat. They are both vents.I will blow them out and see what happens.

Hmm, when I changed fuel lines I didn't replace the vent lines, makes me wonder if I should have.??????

I used to fill the fuel bowl/filter up and then take an air house and pressurize the tank causing the fuel to come out your feed lines(way of priming). If you get fuel to the carbs and still no start, shoot some mix down the carbs and see if it fires if it runs a little then dies then you have problems with your diaphrams not working correctly.

Using compressed air is bad. You can blow the diaphragms out of the carbs... or just cause a leak in the system.

Realistically... even on a Seadoo boat (with long hoses)... and the system is totally dry... it should only take 5 to 10 seconds to get the carbs up to running pressure by cranking.

If you aren't firing... then something is wrong.

no i mean with the lines off the carbs sorry, because then you can see the fuel come out. I've done it that way. seemed to work alright beats sittin there cranking it.

Choke won't pulling the choke reduce air going into the engine, and thus increase fuel? To prime my lines I just held the choke and cranked for 5-10 seconds and within 2-3 tries, it was good to go...

ok still not starting? Anyone

ok So can anyone help me? It still not starting even after i cleaned vents. I think I dont have the hoses in the correct. I looked at the drawings and cant still figure it out. Not sure where the main fuel line goes? If anyone could please take a picture of there set up and email it to me I would appreciate it. I had the fuel line on the bottom of the carbs.
