many things

I just brought my ski out today. an it turns over but no spark to the plugs.. i checked all the fuses cleaned the plugs but nothing... what can it be?

Did it run when you got it? I would start with mpem test, then coil test, then stator test. I have the same problem on my 96 787. Was running strong at 3/4 throttle and then it was like i did a plug chop. Been doinng a lot of reading and some testing also. I have ruled out the mpem for now. Not on spec with the coil but should still spark. My next test is the coil trigger on the stator, then the stator itself.

Good luck

yes i did run when i got it i had to replace the stator,, so thats new.. an then i took it in later on in the summer becuase it was only running up to abot 4000rpms an it was the mpem but it still started though.. i let it set for a couple weeks,, then i went to winterize it an it wouldnt start.. it turned over but that was it..an i got another mpem i just installed today.. and it still isnt started an seeing that im not getting a spark now.. i just dont know what to do now.i spent way to much money on this

have you tried to bypass the rev limiter and see if you get spark? If you get spark then it is that. If not then you can continue testing and ruling out things. (After the obvious stuff like others stated, wire trim, plugs, connections, fuses, ground, etc....)

cdi ???

What about the cdi. i have been doing some reading and undestand that the cdi, in my boat anyway, has control over the spark. If it goes bad it just stops. nothing with running bad, cutting out, low revs, etc... just stops, zero spark. I am reading there is no test for the cdi, you just have to swap it and see. I thought with two wires to the coil, one ground and one white/power, and that was getting a current pulse when the engine is turning over, then what would the cdi have to do with this? What else is needed for the coil build a charge and discharge?

no spark

hi i have been working on a 94 seadoo xp it was running good and then jsut died when testing i pulled the plugs now i have no spark in the plugs i check the fuses and there good what could be wrong

hey now, i been on this site for only a few days and have seen so many post, along with my post about no spark. These older ski's seem to have this problem a lot. This is assuming you checked all fuses and grounds. What I've learned so far is with the 96 gsx 787 digital cdi ignition is that the ignition system works by supplying 12v dc to the coil from the cdi box, which gets it power(12v) from the holder relay. This relay is activated from a wire from the MPEM. The trigger coil sends a signal to the cdi box and that info is used by the cdi and sends the 12v to the coil(white wire on coil). Also, the rev limiter is built in my cdi box and if that fails you wont get any spark. I'm thinking the different cdi systems used on the different models work the same with some differences but basically the same. Can an expert verify this???
