Ok I checked all of the grounds, bought a used but working computer with key, charged battery, checked all fuses and still have no power. Is there any grounds that I'm not checking that are hidden. I can connect the 2 leads on the selenoid and it will turn over but not fire. Ran great last summer and it sat for 2 month, go to start it and no power at all. Any ideas?

Dave Check the compression first on your 720 motor, then pull the return fuel line off the carb and put a short hose on into a catch can. Crank it for a few seconds to see if the fuel is routeing. Is the fuel fresh? Is there Spark? Pull the *plugs and put a big rag over the holes, if the crank oil seals leaked you will have to crank the oil out of the lower cases, but don't burn out the starter.

The thing is I have no electrical power, I put the des on an I get no buzz no start nothing at all. Like if it don't have a battery connected. I'm going to pull the harness out and check for burned or bad connections or wires.

On the solenoid, is there a second wire connected on the ALWAYS HOT side? And on the output side, is there just one large wire or a second wire?

Do you have one or tow wires on the negative side of the battery? It sounds like you are missing the ground for the MPEM. OR you have a bad fuse on the MPEM.

This is how it is directly from the seadoo. The only thing I did was take the bolt out to hold all the grounds to the coil. There is a fuse missing on one of the plugs but as far as I know it never had one?? I'm gonna clean the grounds on the coil and selenoid. I already cleaned the ground from the battery to the engine, the stator box ground on the front of the motor. I believe these are the only grounds left.

I just cleaned all grounds on the entire seadoo still nothing, I have volt meter on the way home so I'll be able to check for power to the mpem

Also that fuse holder goes directly to the power pole on the starter solenoid so it needs to have a fuse in it.

I completely removed the box from the rear which I had to remove positive cables. I'm going to buy a new harness and see what's going to happen after that if it don't work, For sale it goes!

You need the power cables connected to the solenoid and the other small wires as well as they feel the MPEM. And in many cases there is a small ground wire at the batter that is the ground for the MPEM.

OK...................find the wire that comes from the grey connector that goes to the bottom of the coil, it's a ground. There should be a small wire that comes out the top with a ring terminal on it that connects to the battery ground. Check continuity with a meter from the bottom of the coil to the ring terminal. If you don't have continuity you don't have a ground for the electronics. These are known to grow corrosion in the connector (see pic). If you want to do a quick test, make a new ground wire up and go direct from the battery to the bottom of the coil and try it. All of those grounds on the bottom of the coil have to have a ground to the battery

You can see the corrosion in here

Ok I tried directly connecting a negative wire from the battery to the coil post with all the grounds connected. I got nothing, I even splice up on the wire coming from the plug and still nothing. All the wires coming from that box , I cut a slice in the outer coating to look at the wire inside and most of them are black... looks like I'm in need of the rear harness? Question if the coil or selenoid are bad with it keep me from getting a good ground?

Question.... now I have the 97 GTI and looking at wire harnesses. They want buko bucks for a new harness. I found harnesses in a few different years but they look the same. One is from a GSI same year another is from a 2001 GTI. Which models and years are the same or comparable? If any one has a good harness for sale, I have paypal on standby

I'm going to get creative and make my own harness for the rear. Just curious to see if it is the grounds.i opened up 2 of the wires leading to that box and most of the wire is black for about 4-5 inches. Same with some of the positive wires. First I'm going to redo alll the grounds that go to that box.

Minnetonka4me sells the small pins for those factory connectors if you want to make your own harness.

UPDATE***** Well after further investigation with my contiguity readings, I found that the start button was stuck in start/stop mode. Even with the button depressed, it still had contiguity. I disconnected the button at the plug and waallaaa!!!!! Had power. After finding it had power I used a jumper to start the ski. Started right up! So apparently if you press and hold the start button and then plug the dess in you won't get power to the mpeg. Word to the wise. If you have no power, check your start button first. Well at least all the grounds are new! Haha lesson learned thanks guys for all your help!!
