Hello,
I just bough a very clean 98 GS that runs great. It acts like it should as regards the DESS key. No key, start stop does nothing. Plug in the key, engine fires up and boat behaves as it should, but no beeps. In searching here, I learned that I may have a bad buzzer. I removed it and connected 12vdc to it; dead. OK, I then knew I needed a new buzzer. I then wanted to verify the power was going to the buzzer when it should. I connected a voltmeter and then a simple 12vdc test light. Plugging in the key does not get a response from the meter or the test light. I then tried to enter the diagnostic mode by pushing the start stop 5 times without the key plugged in. The test light lights up once (I expected it to light up one long and then one short flash). I then plug in the key and no light flashes from the buzzer circuit, and the boat starts fine. I have inspected connections and they all look clean. I hate to order a new buzzer knowing I may need other parts.
Any ideas appreciated.
Thanks,
Alan
