What is the impact of using NGK BR8ES 5542 (screw on terminal) vs the NGK BR8ES 3961 (solid terminal)?

None, though the screw in ones loosen as time goes by.

Yup, that happened to me. Loosened off completely inside the boot and lost contact with the plug. Put a little bit of blue loctite on them before install.

I ain't never heard of BR8ES with solid terminals, but I reacon if'n I had a choice I'd get em with the solid terminals. The only ones the got down at Drucker's store are the ones with the screw terminals.

correct, the solid terminals are preferred, you have to ask for them, its hit & miss, they don't always have the solids.

I use them interchangeably, and don't even think about it. If you get a plug with a screw on terminal... just grab it with a pair of pliers, and give it a twist. (make it tight)
