newby trying to get 98 xp limited to start!

Its been sitting in somebody's yard for years so have no idea how much work is needed to get it running and Im learning as I go. I've compression tested both cylinders and getting 128,129. Replaced all the fuel lines, rebuilt the carbs. The starter seems to have plenty of power..I checked the reed valves and they are fine. I'm getting a spark on both new plugs. I've squirted a bit of fuel down each cylinder but it just doesn't want to ignite at all and just turns over. So its got spark and fuel so I can only guess its not getting oxygen to ignite but I have no idea what to look at next! I haven't took the head off and inspected the cylinders but if there is compression I figure it should be OK? Any pointers would be greatly appreciated!

What did you set your spark plug gaps to?

I just screwed them in and tightened them a little withna wrench. Is there a set gap ?

Yes, you need to set the gap of new plugs. Your engine should have plugs gapped to .020 - .024". Wider than that, and they might not fire when installed in the cylinders. How did you test for spark?
