Newbie in need of help! 717 (720) twin 2000 Challenger 5672

Hi, I'm new and I've read and read and read, looking for some specific answers to my question but can't seem to find one..yet. This is my first seadoo twin 717 jetboat. I purchased from a guy who kept it maintained and owned it since it came off the dealers lot.

Only issues so far is the oil in it is leaking and appearing in the bottom of the hull, I think it's from the T connector I see as it is quite wet looking..however my concern is that it is TCW3 valvoline outboard oil which I now understand may be bad for the engine..although some say the 717 engine has no "rave" valves and things that would require the seadoo oil...I don't know what to believe but here's the first question:

#1: should I flush all oil, replace lines, and introduce seadoo oil? If so what do I need to be careful about as I am a newbie and wouldn't want to damage anything(I read mixing twc3 and the seadoo oil can gunk everything up)?

Secondly, the port side engine runs great, while the starboard engine takes a few cranks to get started and then after warming up a few min will run fine but at about 500rpm higher than the port engine when throttling, both idle close to the same RPM.
#2: should I be concerned about the rpm difference? If so, what should I do?

Thirdly my fuel gauge doesn't work, but I found a few posts about troubleshooting that..however I couldn't find anyone talking about the fuse that corresponds..is it just linked to the "gauges" fuse?

Thanks for any help. Sorry for all the questions!

I own 787s but I will answer what I can, This is what works for me, others may disagree.

#1: Not sure if the oil issue is just related to RAVE valves but I use Mystik JT4 Sea & Snow. Good oil at a great price. It is API TC so yes you should flush the TCW3 if you are going to switch to API TC.

I buy ZEP Industrial Purple Cleaner & Degreaser in the 5 gallon container. I run it full strength in my sprayer. Spray it all around the engine it will do an amazing job eating grease and oil. Be careful thought it will etch bare aluminum but it is not too bad and the discoloration will fade in about a week. Wash it out with your garden hose.

#2: Sounds like you need your carburetors rebuilt. Make sure you use OEM kits, aftermarket kits will be a disaster. Also you could try SeaFoam in the gas tank to see if that will clean out some of the gunk. I have always been concerned about using any injector cleaner in a two stroke but Sea Foam says it can be used in a two stroke.

#3: The fuel gauge problem is probably in the sender unit as you have already read about.

Hope this helps.

BoLongo, I really appreciate the information! I was wondering what I should do about cleaning up around the engine, I'll definitely try the ZEP. I can't wait to hear what some others say, hopefully I'll be able to take everyone's advice and get my boat up to perfection.
