Hi everyone.

How necessary is this system? Essentially when you turn the boat it accelerates the boat into the turn. Can I delete it without too much discomfort while driving? I will delete it by just directly running a throttle cable to the lever.

My throttle cable is frayed. The cable from the carb to the beginning of the hi-lex is okay and returns smoothly. When reattached it wont return well and I lubed the cables. ( I did cut the hi-lex to try and and see if I could somehow change it.

I'm trying to avoid paying 200 dollars for this cable; I am also just simply curious for learning purposes.

Boat has twin 720's

I think I am just going to get a diy throttle cable repair kit. I still actually curious about why the boat accelerates when turning. I get the idea but do you actually need it?

I ended up repairing it by rebuilding the initial cable but I'm still curious about the actual "functionality of the turn acceleration"

I'm still breaking in rebuilt engines on a 1996 and I can tell you that in a sharp turn the boat will slow down a lot but what boat would not when changing direction. My son's 1996, which he bought new would increase engine RPM if you were at low speed and turned the steering wheel all the way. I'd keep the system as is. The way the boat keeps its maximum value. Good luck whatever you decide.

On a side note I was wondering if the cable is the only difference between the boats that have this feature and those that do not. I was wondering if replacing the cable alone would give me this feature on the 96 Speedster as the later model 1996 had the slow rpm turn assist feature.
