Hi everybody,

This is my first jet boat and I failed to add fuel stabilizer for the "Winter Season" storage. In other words, the boat has been sitting with almost full tank since September and I assume by the season time in April, the old gas will be degraded/harmful to the system. Is there a way to drain/siphon the gas tank on a 2008 Sea-Doo Speedster 150? I tried to feed a tube through the gas fill-up line, but it stops before reaching the tank, due to some sort of obstacle (particle filter?) installed in the line. Any help would be appreciated.

just run it. 4-5 month old gas no problem. add a can of seafoam and call it good your 4stroke won't care.

old gas is a bigger deal for 2 strokes because it might separate and straight alcohol causes squeaked pistons. your 4tec won't care so much.

Thank you for your prompt attention to my inquiry - it looks like here at the SeaDoo forums you guys are so helpful. It's just that I've heard from so many how costly the repair would be if a car/boat uses old gas: gunk, water attracted by ethanol, even petroleum-based algae would all contribute to the engine deterioration. And how everyone is preoccupied with things such as gas stabilizer and StarBrite (enzyme).
Thanks again for your advice - I feel better now.

i bought my ski after it has been sitting for 4 or so months i poured the gas out and did a burn test with a small bit in a cap to see if it would burn. It did so i poured it in the car. Cars running fine but didnt trust it for the ski figured better to be safe than sorry. I was changing out my fuel lines found some nasty green goo im gonna rebuild the carbs

Sounds like you did the right thing with your ski by pouring the old gas out of the ski's tank, but unfortunately, I am unable to do the same with my speedster - I believe, there is a mesh ring somewhere in the fuel refill tube that prevents me reaching the gas tank.
I had my gas trimmer/edger carb die due to the old gas eating through the fuel/return lines and completely gunking up everything in the system. Cleaning carb and replacing gaskets didn't help. Had to replace lines and the carb.
