New Yamaha Fishing Jet Boats

Makes sense, the Miami Boat show starts today. Still kinda shady with the details, seating (it does say will accommodate 8), and how fast it will go, it has a single 1.8L engine. I'm gonna start saving my money maybe I can afford a used one in a few years.

Performance is a non issue as this boat is running the same engine as the current SX190 and ar190. I don't believe it is the same hull as the 19ft boats as they have integrated the articulating keel as the new 24ft twin engine boats. This is a great design, but it did require changes to the hull.

The center console versions should weigh quite a bit less as there just isn't as much topside. So performance should be as good or better than the current AR190 and SX190. It will not come with the supercharged engine like the 192's though. I do believe guys on YamahaJetBoaters website have reported 40mph with the current 190 series boats.

I posted this photo below on the JetBoaters site as well. The seats are numbered where 7/8 are fold up jump seats.

I'm not a fisherman so I wouldn't be all that concerned about the top speed of this boat. Let me tell you a little about the fishermen in the southeastern part of the US. Typically you will see a 16-18' bass boat, like a Ranger, which will be equipped with a 150hp outboard, and it's not unusual to see 250-300hp outboards. I know this sounds crazy, but the purpose is in bass tournaments the person to get to their spot first gets that spot, so at least in this part of the country a fast boat is important, and speeds in the low 40's isn't gonna cut it with most fishermen. The start of a bass tournament looks like the Daytona 500.

I was personally looking at this boat as a family boat and to maybe use as a facility for the Coast Guard Auxiliary. I know this is not a fair comparison by my 18' Bayliner with a 3.0L mercruiser will do about the same top speed and the Yamaha center console boat. I love a center console boat an this sounds like a great idea I'm sure if this boat is at least a moderate success Yamaha will expand on the center console and hopefully offer a model a little bigger and with more power, however this is not the boat for me.
