I just got a 1998 GTI that starts but idles high. The PO also stated that it would need a new safety switch. They said it would suddenly stop running while on the water and their tech told them that it needed the new switch.
The seadoo and trailer are in very nice condition.
1) So far I have found that the battery hold down was broken and the rubber strap could not secure the batt. I fixed this so the battery is now secure. Also trickle charged the battery. It was very low.
2) Attached the hose to the ski so I could run it for a minute or so to see if it would rev. This seemed fine other than the seemingly high idle. I finally had time to go to the lake to try in the water. It idled off the trailer but will not take any throttle input at all. It also cut off a couple of times while I waited for my wife to bring the trailer back.
Luckily I have my boat up there so no wasted trip.
I am now thinking that a carb rebuild is in order, and I also have a replacement safety switch. The lanyard key is an atlantis "key".
What else should I consider to get this on the water and have some fun?
Thanks in advance for any help!
