okay well finally got the 2 xps looking good and the starter in my wifes and stator and pick up in mine, well the wifes worked great like usual and mine decided to act wierd, I just put a new impeller in it a 16/24 skat swirl I made sure both had rubber boots and the splines all looked great, everything went together great, but at the lake my wifes stock xp was beating me off the line and in the long run, even my uncles 97spx would tear me up, mine just felt weird and not as fast. talked to a guy and he said maybe since i have a sbt wear ring it is just spinning in there.... so i got home and pulled the jet pump again, and took some pics for you guys for some help. the wear ring does not look like it moved because the neoprene seal still looks brand new and it had one piece that came off witht he wear ring and it was in that same spot, now my question is what all would cause this. I just put a new stator and pickup in this machine and while i did that i put the new impeller, last week it was running faster than this lol

here is a video for starters.

Hi Brandon,

Your clearance looks as tight as I have ever seen, it's almost gotta be the impeller. Shouldn't make a difference but I've never seen a white wear ring for a 2 stroke, guess they're using teflon wear rings for 2 strokes, like the newer 4 strokes.

The only other thing I could think of would be the carbon seal, but that would cause cavitation.

Ya the wear don't is a sbt one so its white. The oem is better. But I don't see it liking me this much since it was running great at the lake the other day before pickup went out.

Brandon,

You should listen to Chester, he knows his stuff. He's also got impellers for sale, he might have one to fit your xp.

thanks lou,

ima do some more research to...... wish i would of known this before lol... what do you think of the skis? coming along nice eh

Yep... what Chester said.

The guy at improse is kind of right. Yes... the 16/24 will fit, and will "Work just fine"... but it's not going to give you as much pressure in your pump, and in turn, you will loose speed.

***EDIT***

I can't even find a 16/24 in the seadoo chart. It must have been a discontinued impeller.

Ya I bought it from Troyboy on pwctoday it was origionally a 17/22 and he had it repitched to a 16/24. He us the one that told me it would work good. But it did not give me nothing off the line or anything. I just felt slower. But its brand new in impros box n still looks new maybe I can get my money back on it if I sell it. May throw stock back in for now.

If you had a few more HP... it would work better.

The other thing to remember... when an impeller is custom re-pitched... you don't know what mods were done to the ski. (more RPM's, More HP, different nozzle size, ect) Also... when a custom impeller is made... what was the target use? (A short buoy course, or distance/endurance)

If the price was right... you could ask Skat-Track to re-pitch is back to a 17/22. I've have good luck with those guys helping me out. I bought an impeller, and it didn't have the rubber cone in the box, and a quick email later... they sent me 2 for free. (they are $5 each at SBT) You never know... they may take care of you if you tell them that you were told it would work, and now you found that it doesn't, and can't send it back.

Skat-track has great customer service.

Hmm okay thanks Dr. Ima sit here and think on it. Does my wear ring look good. Everyone says I should go to oem but should I just wait till .extent season or cut this one out.

Yep... your clearance is fine.

Honestly... if the pump is still out... I would put the stock impeller back in it. Especially if you are losing performance with it.

well i filed the stock impeller a little from the rough edges and threw it back in for now, i am going to go try it out again sometime this week and make sure all is good now, guess i will either sell the other prop or get it repitched here is the pic with stock back in
