Hey guys,

Glad to find this forum. I have been Sea-doo fan for years. All the way back to my 96 Speedster.

My new boat is a 2004 S200. I got a great deal on it but it will need some TLC. A good cleaning, upgraded stereo, new wear rings and decals and I will be set.

BUT I am having a weird problem. The boat runs great. About 53GPS. But the electronics dont work.

The dealer lot put a new battery in it and the radio worked then it didnt. No gauges work, blower and bilge dont kick on either. Currently there are two small wires on the POSITIVE side of the battery. I think they go on the negative...not sure.

Also, I looked at a couple of the fuses under the rear bench seat. All looked good. Is there an inline fuse somewhere that I could check?

I will have lots of questions on getting this boat perfect again. I have some play money to buy a new Bimini, Hydro Turf, Xm System W/ Amp and some other stuff, but I would like to at least get my Fuel gauge working..

I am going to sign up for the premium thing..

Thanks!

Joe

Update:

I put the 2 wire connector on the ground. The bilge pump works, the warning lights work. The gauges do not.

The radio turned on and played and then I tried the weedless surge button and the radio shut off.

Wont come back on.

Is there a seperate switch for the radio? (master switch)

Thanks,

Joe

There are fuses under the drivers cowl, beneath the 'cooler' that are for the accessories.

I had quite a time figuring out what was up on my S200. I kept blowing a few fuses the first few times I tried to use it, and it ended up being ONE wire (to the port navigational light) that was not properly attached so I think the power was finding another way down and arcing across 'something else' and popping fuses like popcorn.

I pulled each and every accessory out and disconnected it and when I got to the horn, I stopped popping fuses. I then found the dangling wire, resoldered it and haven't popped a fuse since.

Good luck!

Also, I just remembered this: check your battery for a full charge. When my battery is 'low', the radio just cuts off. Other things will work, but the radio seems to be the first to go on a low battery.

:agree:Most radio's have a min of 10.5v before they cut off, the popping of fuses is caused by the bad connection, it makes the object draw more current through the circut as the impedance gets higher and that overheats the fuse. I have seen many fuses, even ones that didn't look blown (Check with a multimeter) on car audio installs from bad connections normally earths.

Well, the guages light up, the bilge pumps water out and I was playing with fuses and something in the bilge moved (it had levers on it and is located in front of the gauge cluster)

Radio is still not kicking on. Is the radio on a stand alone switch?

I also hitched up my jumper battery pack (low power level) to increase the volts. Still no radio.

On a side note, how do I flush the pumps and exhaust? My Sportster had a green hose that clipped in by the pumps. This boat has openings in the same spot but its an 1inch diameter tube.

Thanks!

Joe

Just a note cause ive seen alot of people do this. If your going to hook a hose up to the boat make sure to start the boat THEN turn the water on. And turn the water off befor you turn offf the boat. If you dont do it in this order youll get an engine full of water.

Ok,

Radio power wire is getting power. Multi meter is showing 8volts. Battery is putting out 12.5

I tried a ground on the engine and sure enough the power wire to the radio is getting 12.5.

This is good.

I have a bad ground. Where can I check for that Ground wire??

Thanks,

Joe

As far as I know there is only one 'ground' post, located http://partsfinder.onlinemicrofiche.com/seadooforums/Seadoo_oem/Seadoo_JB.asp?Type=13&A=95&B=26 (see #16)

That is located under the drivers cowl, beneath the cooler liner.
