New Dess key or......?

So last year i started having bad feedback with my key and/or post. When I put my key on sometimes it doesn't register (nothing happens) so I have to take it off and try again. Usually the 2nd time everything lights up. Also sometimes the beeper doesn't go.

I was wondering, I'm going to get a new DESS Key (mine is so old, original on a 1996 xp). Does anyone thing I should ALSO buy a DESS Post with it too? (link below)

Anyways, I am just wondering, maybe I have a bad key, maybe a bad post, maybe time to replace both? I'm sure many here have gone through this. Feedback would be appreciated. Thanks!

If it were me id send my mpem to minnetonka have him program a new key and buy a known good used dess post from him. I did it over the winter got a new key and dess post cheaper then my dealer wanted for a key with program
