Hi everyone. I have been procrastinating diving into this project but I'm all in now.
I have the motor out of the boat... (there is another one waiting its turn)
The jugs and pistons are out. Looks like the engine sucked up some sand and it overheated. Compression was low 110. I have heard all kinds of terror stories about overhauling the top and not doing the bottom and then 20 hours later the bottom lets go.
I have lots of experience with rebuilding engines but these rotax babys are different.
What I need to know is: would it be money well spent to split the case and refresh the bottom end or am I wasting time? The top definitely needs work. One of the water inlets in the head is corroded through and I may need to replace the head. A repair would be more reasonable.
Getting back to the bottom end.. Any advice would be appreciated and helpful. 20 years old unknown use and abuse.

Thanks in advance.
