Was out at the lake yesterday for my first ride of the summer. I was idling back in a little offshoot from the lake like I've done many times before.
This day the water was super murky, (only noticed this afterward of course!) and long story short I sucked this giant rock into my drive somehow.
The thing stopped my motor dead when I got home and popped the drive off that thing was so stuck in there I had to take a piece of wood and a hammer and knock the impeller backwards for about a quarter turn to get it dislodged.
Needless to say my wear ring is shot, the impeller is way out of whack I played around tightening and loosening the three bolts down in there but it still rubs too badly to think about trying to start it on the hose.
What do you guys think just get a total rebuild kit? I'm relatively sure I can balance the impeller. It doesn't look bad plus I've got a jig I used to balance the prop for my ultralight and it hasn't shook itself out of the sky. Should be easy to modify it without destroying it for its intended purpose.
I'm really heartbroken I've only had that little ski for a couple of years but it is so darn fast, (I have a hard time believing it's only 80hp) and it's never gave me any trouble.
I'd really like to fix it but realistically I bought it for $250 a couple summers ago and I really don't want to sink a tremendous amount of money into it.
