Need help

I put a new battery in my 96 spx, hit the start button and all 4 lights lit up on the gauge, trim gauge moved about halfway then everything turned off... can anyone help me to figure out what this problem is. I checked the fuses in the computer box and they are all good. Any help would be greatly appreciated

Ok so I went and bought a multimeter and was going through some electrical things... when I have the key off the switch only the gas light and water temp gauge light up and I have full range of trim now... but when the key is locked onto the push button that is when all the lights light up and nothing happens... does this mean the safety lanyard switch is bad?
