Hello guys, thanks for taking time to read my post

Last weekend I took my 2005 Sea Doo Speedster 200 SC (370hp) to Lake Havasu Arizona. The temperature was about 109 degrees (F). After about 2 hrs of riding I turned it off to jump in the water then turned it right back on and the hi temp lights beeped. I removed the lanyard and everything went back to normal. Continued the rest of the day with no problems. The same thing happened the next day. No problems after removing lanyard. Should I be worried or is this normal due to the hot weather?
To be on the safe side today I removed the J-pipes and flushed the 3 holes with compressed air and the hoses, to remove any possible debris/sand. Is it normal to have a small water leak between the the J-pipe and the water box main hose opening when flushing on a garden hose? I have never paid attention in the past and saw a small leak today while flushing the engines. Leak is out of the hose opening not a hole on the hose. Maybe due to hose water pressure? Any advice/help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

I wonder if the engine coolant setting in the engine is retaining heat. That would give you a false positive until the water starts moving.

It could be as simple as, your environment is very hot.

When the boat is running and MOVING, you get decent cooling due to the ride plate. Once you turn it off, it is so hot there that the water will continue to heat up until the engine can physically begin to cool itself. Once you start it, this HOT water is at the sensor and the display says it is hot. Once you start it and clear the stagnant water, you will get the cooler water due to the ride plate cooling the antifreeze again.

I would feel pretty comfortable that this is your issue.

Thank you Coastiejoe and xintersecty for your replies. What you both stated makes a lot of sense. I guess I'll blame it on the hot weather, since the boat ran fine while in motion.

Now is it normal to have a small water leak between the the J-pipe and the water box connecting main hose opening when flushing on a garden hose? I tighten the four ring clamps. I have never paid attention in the past and saw a small leak today while flushing the engines. Leak is out of the hose opening not a hole on the hose. Maybe due to hose water pressure? Thanks again for your help!

Castlejoe did a much nicer job of saying what I said. Thanks Castlejoe! So you might need to replace the two hoses and clamps. Make sure you get a quality stainless steel clamp. No you should not get a leak there.

I will say NO,,, NO water leaking into the boat//ski is ever good with the single exception of the dribble that comes from the carbon seal used to cool the seal and lubricate the face of it.

Thanks again guys! I really appreciate the help! This forum is awesome! Are the WSM Sea doo hoses/parts any good? Much cheaper and claims that it meets or exceeds OEM specifications. Found the exhaust hoses at a fraction of the price.
