My New "96" XP Neptune Parabolic

Yeah I won't be throwing the others away just yet. A craigslist buyer would think these ATM hatches are "broken" because of the cracks and it might actually pull value away from the ski. Not selling so it doesn't matter.

So I got one for you guys. I noticed hard re-starts on the ski during the first ride we put on it but figured I'll just deal with it later. I realized I probably had leaky needles and seats or maybe too much rotary valve clearance or something. Whatever it runs great I moved on.

Yesterday when I pulled the rear lid I smelled raw fuel. Sure enough I had a puddle of fuel under the engine. I had filled it all the way last Saturday and hadn't burnt much off. There is no fuel switch since it was a race ski. I found no leaks in the tank at all. I washed the hull out and went to start it. It's locked tight! Can you see what happened here lol?

Well, with no On/Off valve and leaking needles I would assume that full tank of fuel sought it's own level and filled the engine to the top with fuel. Exhaust full too?

Ding ding ding we have a winner. I've been flooded and hydro-locked many many times but with water. That sucker was so full of raw gas it was leaking out of the carbs and filling the hull up. Scary stuff. Not sure if the exhaust was full, probably. I finally got it fired back up tonight.

I've got some true bore 40's from GroupK I want to rebuild and try on them. That and a new fuel valve lol. I'd go 44's but I just cruise mostly and I don't want to give up the good range it has.

I had some Group K true bores back in 98' and loved everything they did. I finally sprung for their full sleeper on a 97' XP I bought brand new in 98'. It was faster than the stock 98' Limited's when they came out. Sadly I sold it. Good times.

Every time I see one for sale I check the CF numbers. So if you ever see CF 3515 PB buy it LOL.

When i heal i am riding this ski! Ill tow my my mod 95 down as im sure Matt can help me tune it dead on

Seat is torn, gas gauge doesn't work, no choke cable, not sure if I can get old vinyl decals and lettering off the vinyl sides(he covered the original #'s with silver duct tape and then put his FL #'s on that), and it drives like a bath tub compared to my beloved buoy racers. Oh and it's big azz is up in my precious covered space cause I've got way too much in it to leave it out collecting oak leaves. I don't think the guy meant to be dishonest with me but I'm sure glad that I stayed my ground at 3 grand. It will still be fun for night runs and as a kid mobile.

Ah, that's a shame. That guy talked it up like it was mint. I'm sure you'll get it back to perfect in no time.

sorry to hear about the explorer complaints, never took a test ride just met it at the ramp so it looks like I missed a couple of things there, my bad, if I have any of the replacement parts around here they are all yours. I still think you will enjoy it at night and for for its runabout capabilities. I'm curious to hear a report on how it handles medium chop, i've been told a couple of times that it does surprisingly well for its size.

funny that you now find your space limited when not so long ago I was thinking that you had too much :)

room on the property for another building?

my cousin had a haybarn style building for dirt bikes down in sarasota, worked quite well. short ceilings like 8 feet, it was more labor than materials.
basically a shorter 300 sq foot version of this with a less fancy roof, carport style.

I really appreciate your role in helping get the boat I wanted. It was really up to the PO I questioned a couple times to tell me things like "you have to pop the engine cover and reach around to hold the chokes closed to cold start it".

I would trust it to ride around as it is but I can't look at the previous work performed on it without rolling my eyes or shouting a quick cuss word to myself. I'm just talking where holes for the bigger battery and bilge bump kit were drilled, stuff like that. I have to remember that most folks have not obsessed over how 2-stroke Seadoos can be better for years on end.

I hear you on that building but I would just fill it immediately with things I rarely use. The real solution for me is to cut loose the items that have fallen out of favor. I'm bringing everything up to speed mechanically so if I don't use it often enough then it will sell for it's potential.

The engine has Kawi flattop pistons in it. I know it feels amazing but on the next ride I can get a handle on what rpm, temps, and mph #'s I'm working with.
Hey matt, what is engine from the piston kawa flattop ....model and years, i want try pston flaptop??
