My 1996 XP refresh

Decided I would make a thread on here for some advice on my rebuild/refresh of my 1996 xp. So far I have pulled the motor out and waiting to hear back from some people about getting a hook up on engine parts. My goal with this ski is to make it reliable like the original engine was but with some more power, also plan on addressing any issues and update it some. I mainly use this ski for just jumping wakes and playing around when I don't have a stand up to ride, I love this hull. Its a really clean original ski for a 1996 and I plan to keep the looks slightly original with some updating from its current banana state. The motor was all original and I am the second owner, I actually still know the guy I bought it from which helps with questions.

Mods it has
- Factory spec II pipe
- Microtouch SD rev limiter
- water injection
- jetted carbs and flame arrestors
- deep intake grate
- impeller with a ton of low end

Plans
- jet trim seat
- hot rod crank and full engine rebuild
- TDR water box or ?
- single gauge hood
- umi steering
- some kind of sponsons and trim tabs

Finally got back onto the rebuild, started ordering parts

-I have a new tach/hour meter coming
-single gauge yellow hood
- New waterbox out of spx or something

I have R&D trim tabs and 2 yellow single gauge hoods for sale.

Just bought a pretty clean yellow single gauge hood, what do those trim tabs do? this isn't a race ski, just something I play with and jump cruiser wakes

The trim tabs help with porpoising at higher speeds (nose bounce). They kill your ability to jump though. I had some on mine and took them off since I enjoy jumping, and I haven't had a problem with porpoising. Just adjust trim or move body weight.

Ya probably not going to buy some then, might look into sponsons though. I've been focused on the stand up world for a while so little out of touch on x4 stuff.
