Call me stupid…

I just bought a 2000 sportster le. On my first day out (rushed by family to get it in the water), I mistook the battery cut-out for the bilge blower switch. After getting the boat running I cut the battery (“bilge blower”) off. After about thirty minutes of running the boat died (out in the middle of water…). I have trouble shot to the 5A fuse (next to the 15A fuse on the fuse box). It blows the moment I cut on the battery cut-out switch. As I read the wiring diagram, that line directly feeds the mpem power supply. All other accessories (lights, bilge pump) still work, (but NOT the bilge blower). I freshened the battery. I get no tones with the dess/lanyard.

Did I burn the mpem or should I look at something else first? Is the power supply replaceable? All help appreciated.

Welcome to the seadoo forum rstrmrk. The 5 amp fuse is the direct feed to the MPEM ( Multi Purpose Electronic Module)from the rectifier/ regulator. Chances are you surged the MPEM when you cut the battery power. Here is a test for you to check;
MPEM Check
The most common causes are jump starting the ski or running with a bad battery, or disconnecting the battery while its running.

You sound handy with tools so the fastest way to test this is place a Voltage Ohm Meter from ground loop to the 5 amp fuse location or red wire.

A short indicates the MPEM is bad. An open indicates you have another problem. I can assure you that you have a short. If this is the case there is a member who's name is Mike, and uses the screen name " All Things Custom". He can repair the mpem if this is the problem. I don't know what he charges but other members have had him repair their MPEM and saved a bunch of money.

Keep us posted on your progress.
