Mooring a 230 Wake

Hi everyone. I am thinking of picking up a 510hp 230 wake for my condo at Shuswap lake BC. My concern is that I want to leave it on a moorage buoy but I have heard through google searches that it is a very bad idea due to marine growth fouling the jet drive. It will sit for up to 2 weeks without use, could such a clean lake cause that much damage in that short a time? Is it something to even worry about or is this more of a small stagnant lake or ocean moorage concern.

Thanks!

If it is fresh water you probably will have no problem, but it really depends on the ecology of your particular lake. I leave my boat in the water most of the summer here in michigan and have no issues, but our lake is very clean. I know of some lakes that are very dirty and leave a lime scale on the bottom of the boat if the boat sits in the water. I am able to just wipe the bottom of the boat every 2 weeks to remove the algae and never have a problem.

Another thing to consider is water entering through the carbon seal. The drive shaft seal is designed to leak slightly. My seal does not leak at all and I have never had a problem. I know my auto bilge works and I just keep an eye on it. I would say it probably would not hurt to try it, but keep an eye on everything.

Take a look at some other boat on the same lake that are kept in the water and see how they look. Personally I would not leave my boat in the water at all. Can you find a floating lift for it? Some are a large plastic square with 2 padded runners that the boat sits on. A pump puts air in or lets it out causing the boat to lift or float..

I wouldn't trust any seadoo on a moorning due to the carbon ring design. Not saying it can't be done, I just would constantly worry which for me would be more trouble than constantly trailering.
