Had a catastrophic failure of a piston and the metal bits chewed on everything everywhere. The rotary valve was cut to pieces and both sides of the valve and the valve cover had wicked scratches in it. I put the cover on the mill and took off the first thou on pass number one and what jumped out at me was the wear (natural) around the valve holes. It took 3 thou to clean up the cover. Most of that was not the scratches but was just wear. Pretty surprised and just passing this along as food for thought.
