does anyone have old memories I can remember when I was 13 I bought a broken renault 4 cylinder dune buggy for $100.00 money was hard to come by. I did not have enough for a rebuild I took the head off as I was wishing I had the money to fix it I came up with an idea. I had another engine it was a 2 hp edger motor it bolted nicely where the head use to be and I even had a fan belt to go down to harmonic balancer. me and my friend pushed started it and off we went top speed 5 or 10 mph headed for the woods two miles threw the neighbor hood along the way we were stoped by police he was ok with it he just wanted to ask what kind of gas mileage we got.

LOL.........good thread!..

That brings back memories when I was in my early 20's, a friend and I had an old 5 HP go-cart. You know, the ones you buy at Western Auto. Well, we blew the engine by reaching around and pushing on the governer linkage. Then, we got this novel idea, we'd put this 12 horsepower Wisconsin on the back, that he had just sitting in his workshop.........
We got out the welder and re-inforced the framework and mounted that puppy on there. Without anyone in it, it'd lift the front tires off the ground. Well, we didn't have much to choose from when it came to the gear ratio and there was no clutch. Direct drive. We had to pull it behind a car to a speed of about 40 miles an hour just to get it to start. Once started, you couldn't get any slower than 50 or the engine would jerk the frame around. We eventually broke the go-cart in half due to the weight of the motor and it's torque.............just glad it wasn't my turn when it broke.........

This brings back memories.

Good thread...........
When I was 12 I purchased an old Lambretta scooter.
The ones with the big leg shield on the front 200cc I think.
Anyways the throttle was bust on the handle bars.
So me and my younger brother rigged the throttle up on the foot brake.
(that these things had on the floor.) We used fishing line and fasterned it to the carbereter.
Great we thought speeding through the fields, that is untill we had to stop to get off to open a gate.
Moral of the story is, brakes are good if you have them.
And wear a helmet.

nice post both of you

I could tell you of some very stupid things I have done when it comes to mechanics when I was young. but if I could think of something I did in my older age I probly would not tell you. I will have to come back and reply on alot of other post everyone made. I am sick again so you may not be hearing from me very much. It is truely great to hear everyone's posts and replies.
