Maiden Voyage in our new boat.

Maiden voyage went AWESOME!!! Grabbed Mcdonalds and a 12-pack and hit the water.

First I swapped out the prop for a new one and checked all the fluids, adjusted a couple things. Put on a new wake-board mirror.

Battery was dead when seller gave it to me, since he forgot to turn off the depthfinder and it was just barely charged. Put my charger on it yesterday morning, went right to 25%, and was still at 25% when I got there this afternoon. Put it on another battery and turned it up to 6A, and still stuck at 25%, so in the trash. Brought jumper cables and my backup battery and it started right up and charged great while we rode around.

Also lit up the stereo and MAN was it loud!!! Subwoofer is awesome, and kills fish in a 20' radius around the boat! Gonna likely need to keep that backup battery in the boat with jumper cables. I can see that stereo killing the battery after a couple hours, regardless of what the previous owner said.

Stormy day, and we had to come in early after an hour and a half or so so we didn't get struck by lightning.

It pops right up out of the hole and rides like a cadillac. Very spacious and comfy.

A couple of pics...

Looks like you have a little more room to walk around.

If I didn't go and buy a new truck... I would have bought an Islandia this winter.

Lots of room. Especially with just the two of us.

I could see it getting crowded over 4, if everyone was up and moving around alot. But 6 seated would still be spacious.

We just paid off the wife's car, and my truck has been paid off for a couple years. So when this deal came around, we couldn't pass it up. Especially at $200/mo for 5 years. My beer costs me more than that!

Another good thing, that I won't miss about Seadoos.

I called the local Glastron shop (25 miles away, not 60) and asked for prop in stock?, distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs?

He said yes on the prop. No on the rest. Just go to Autozone or O'Reilly and the spark plugs are AC-Delco XXX and they will have the distributor cap and rotor, as well!!! :hurray::hurray::hurray:

No more 10 day wait and 2 weekends out of the water for a simple fix!

Not sure at this point. I put a slower prop on it today, from 23 to 21 pitch. They had it in stock and I don't mind losing a little top end for some low-end grunt. The wife isn't too fond of going fast, either. We were typiclaly cruising around 25 mph (by speedo, not GPS).

I got it to a smooth spot and nailed it with the trim all the way down, and it was moving along pretty good for a big boat (relatively speaking, compared to my little challenger). Got there pretty quickly. Topped out at 3500 rpms, though, and I think it goes to 4500. I didn't leave it there long, so not sure if I need to adjust the throttle linkage or what. Maybe it will climb that last 1000 rpms with a couple more seconds of full throttle and a bit of trim. I think it was speedo-ing at around 45. There should be more there.

Also, I don't think it has ever been "tuned up". Second owner who sold it to me bought it last june with 30 hours on it and put 150 on it in the past 14 months!!!

I have the receipts from first owner and not seeing any tuneups, just lube and filter swaps.

So that means most likely, original impeller, distributor cap, rotor, and plugs, and never had a carb cleanup. And 30 hours use in the first 6 years??? No telling what all needs to be cleaned and tuned.

Going to swap all that out, and turn on the GPS and see what we get.

Will tune it up before the labor day weekend, see if it improves, then just drive it as is until off season and check out carb and linkages. It is plenty fast for us right now.

Topped out at 50mph (gps) with bimini top up, two adults, full tank and coolers. Got there pretty quick too!
