Mag plug connection

Hi,
I have a 97 Challenger 1800. Twin 787 motors. I was trying to tune on the trailer. The Dess key was pulled instead of the stop button (hard to find good helpers) while the motor was running. Now I don't have power anywhere. No bad fuses. Just a melted ground wire coming off the magneto. The ground wire is ok, but the connection feels loose. Does anyone know how to remove the wires from the plastic plug?

Do research on Deutsch plug. The orange cap in the end of the plug is a locking clip

Yes, I will. I just thought if anyone else had this they might know how or why it happened and if this will prevent power to the rest of the boat through the dess key.

The plug was easily opened with a small straight blade screwdriver. I'm not sure how corrosion formed inside a waterproof plug unless it was wet before it was plugged in to the socket.
