Looks like i am getting a lot of water in the gearcase... so i guess its time to reseal. I plan on replacing the 2 shaft seals and the ones on the small shaft from the engine... looking at the drawings looks like i should be able to drop the pump without pulling the powerhead... has any one tried this ? Thank you in advance for your comments or insights.

Since the PH is bolted to the top of the pump, the PH has to come off first. Then the pump can come out from the bottom.

Water in the gearcase- there are several specialized tools required (read: expensive). If you know a machinist, he should have some of them.
There are 2 seals in GB on the impeller shaft and 2 seals on the input shaft. There is one more seal in the stator.

Ok so i need to remove powerhead first. Ok since i am just changing seals i dont think backlash will be an issue. So what special tools will i require. I plan on using original shims.. also how hard is it to reaseal pump and boat will i need a new gromet between hull and pump or will a little rtv do it. Thanks for any info that can help

The job itself isn't hard... but there is going to be a lot of swearing. Bolts will be seized, and things will be corroded. AND... the parts are heavy, and will be stuck. (Getting the engine out, and dropping the gearbox)

I would buy a new hull gasket. If the old one comes off, and it's not brittle... sure, a little RTV would seal it. BUT... why take the chance of that leaking after?
