Two hours of tubing and everything fine... at about 25 mph, engine rpm went up un-commanded… I thought I heard some grinding noise. Throttled down and began to head back to dock.... 3 miles away...slow throttle seemed to work without noise recurring... slow increase on the throttle to about 30 mph.... for about 5 minutes then boat decelerated un-commanded with same grinding noise....but RPM did not change... ended up traveling last 1.5 miles at 7 mph at 4000 RPM but no grinding noise. also the visual evidence of the jet thrust was not the same magnitude. I could feel a small vibration as opposed to the normal I would feel.
While docking and trailering, there was very little steering control at lower rpm. Hard to explain but reverse seemed ok at low rpm....
I have not inspected the blades yet but I am hearing that the drive shaft may have pulled away at the spline...the engine seemed to be running fine with no problem with throttle up.
Suggestions?
Also suggestion where to get a manual for the 2003 Utopia 205 Mercury 240
