Hey everybody. I am new to the Sea-doos and new to the forum. I was just wanting to hear some opinions on the 1999 Sea-Doo GTX Limited with the 951motor. I just sold 2 Yamaha jetskis and got a pair of these. They are a matching pair with around 200 hours. All fuel supply lines have been changed, plugs, stator on one of them, and both have new impellers.

Are these good jetskis? Do they ride well? What can I expect in the speed department?

Thanks

200hrs? Is the paint missing on the bolts, on top of the motor? If so, then they probably been rebuilt, which isnt bad.

There great skis, keep oil in the bottle, change the plugs from time to time, and clean the raves and pump oil every season.

What is a good way to clean the raves? I am learning here, but there are 2 rave valves on the top of the motor, correct?

It looks like most of the paint is still on the bolts, from what I can see. The previous owner did take them to the coast a couple of times, so alot of the paint is coming off of the motors, in spots.

And when you say clean the pump oil, do you mean to just put new oil in the tank after removing the old?

Thanks

you dont need to "change" the oil in the resivoir. That'll get burned when motors' run'n. Just make sure you dont run empty.

The RAVES are located on the top of motor. Remove the 2-allen bolts, and lightly, lift up on the housing. Theres an o-ring under each housing, so dont lose it. Clean the raves with a wirebrush..etc, to remove the carbon. If those stick, then you'll kill a plug or 2

The pump oil, is located in the pump assy. Remove the nozzle, and you'll expose a huge cone. Remove the bolts, securing cone to ventura, and allow oil to drain out. Then re-install cone, and you'll see a set screw on top to apply the new synthetic oil. Fill just under the setscrew hole.

i have always wanted a gsx-l. they ride smooth and will scream like a banshee. be careful about getting water in a 951. they do not take to water well at all....well worse than the other seadoo motors.

Ok, I am lost on the pump oil thing. Wgere is the pump assembly? Is this like changing th motor oil, basically? What oil do I use to refill. I really dont want to do this wrong, but I am all new to this.

These skis have a bilge pump in them, dont they? I have just been looking around the engine compartment, trying to get familiar with them, and there look to be a bilge pump. Do they take on water if you dont flip em?

i don't know. i only rode a friend of mine's and never flipped it lol.

Yeah, these look like they will be pretty stable. I had the little narrow Waveraider Yamaha's. These are much wider and longer. I can't wait to take them out. My neighbor has 2 with the smaller motor and says that these 951's should really move out.

i sent you a pm on the jet pump stuff. as for as speed they move. i think they are faster axceleration than an xp and top out stock around 60 mph

I tried that site and it went nowhere. What goes in where all the ****'s are in the address?

Yeah, the previous owner says that they will do around 65 and I was wanting to see if that was true. All the sites that I can find say that top speed is 65. I sure do hope so.

Thanks for your help.

top speed will very due to many things. how smooth the water is, rider weight ect... i'm 6'2" 210lbs and i got 60mph on a windy day at the local lake

A GTX Ltd will top out at about 57-58 mph. (true GPS)

The previous owner is probably referring to speed on the speedometer, which is usually 5-7 MPH faster than actual.

I quess that will have to do. I really got them for the storage, 3 seater and the reverse. I really like em so far, even though I have not had them in the water yet.
Thanks
