New member here. Had a wake boat, but building a house and had to sell it to free up some cash. So have decided to jump on a PWC for the next season or 2 until it's time to start boat shopping again. I can't take 2 summers away from the lake so I figure it's a good way to keep floating.
I'm somewhat of speed and performance guy, and the new GTR-X 230 initially sparked my interest. But the last shop I stopped at had a left over 2016 RXT-X 300 that they are blowing out (13,700 OTD including a trailer) so it definitely got me thinking since they would be about the same price. My only concern with the 230 has been because probably 30% of the time my wife will be on back and it just being 2-up, but she is pretty small (5' 110). And it looks like other members have ridden 2up on the 230 without much trouble. However, the RXT has a much bigger seat and event more on the performance end so I'm trying to decide if that's a better choice. When she's not on back I'd like to still be able to do some pretty good ripping. Most of our riding will on local lakes in SC, so some boat traffic but not much for significant chop.
Only other concern is fuel consumption. I don't mind filing the tank when needed, but if that needs to happen every hour it could get old since we don't have fuel on our usual lake. Is there much of a difference between the 230 and 300 or are they going to be about the same? I don't mind doing a little easy cruising to save a bit of fuel, but how realistic is that on either of these. I know there are a lot of other options out there, but after climbing around on these models it's hard to look at anything else. Thanks for your help.
Just looking for some opinions.
