2023 GTR 230 wont go past 60

I recently bought a 2023 Sea Doo GTR 230 and before I made the purchase I did some homework and found out the top speed was 65-69ish, I passed the 5 hour mark I'm at 6.2 hours now and even in sports mode it will not go pass 60. Is there some kind of adjustment I have to do like trim level? I weigh about 225 and I had no cooler etc.

I've see the same problem with my brother's 2023 GTR 230 he purchased last fall. With a full fuel load he only hits 60, but as the fuel level drops I've see 63-64 MPH. The ski now has 14 hours on it, and the RPM won't go over 7800 RPM. I called Ski-doo, because when we performed the 10 hr oil change we pulled 4 quarts, 12 ounces of oil out of the engine. Skidoo told us that's way too much oil. So, we were cautious and pulled out 12 ounces and then went for a ride to check the oil (hot). Then we pulled another 12 ounces of oil out. The oil level is within limits now, but at the lower end of the safe range. The ski will still not go over 7800 RPM, and my 2017 GTR 230 easily outruns the 2023 GTR 230.

So, I contacted my salesman, and he looked up the specs for both the 2017 and the 2023 GTR 230. He said was the redline on the 2017 was 8300 (1503 engine, I'm hitting 8060 RPM), and the redline on the 2023 was 8000 (we're seeing 7800 RPM).

Since my brother is very competitive and doesn't want his younger brother outrunning him; he purchased the RIVA Racing stage 1 kit for his 2023. The stage 1 flash of the ECU will bump the rev limiter up to 8300 RPM. There are other go faster bits in the stage 1 kit; RIVA advertises the ski will hit 70 MPH with their stage 1 kit.

Thanks @mkov608 im going to look into that.

It probably has too much oil. Take oil out until it is at the low mark or slightly below and then go test and I'll bet you get a few more mph.

Having a similar experience with a pair of 2023 230’s.
The only difference is that they weren’t ever overfilled with oil, I also did the oil services myself and made sure not to pass 1/2 mark.
Intercoolers are clean…I mean absolutely washed-out-shiny aluminum clean so crank vent oil is hardly to blame.
One of the two does maybe 1-2mph better, up to maybe 65mph downriver with low fuel and trimmed up. Normally we’re seeing 59-62.
Kinda frustrating really, since nothing seems to be wrong. Wonder if BRP has a hidden limiter in place with those who won’t pay the $$$ for dealers to change oil…? They take off like nobody’s business but kinda limp out towards 60mph and never make 8000rpm.

Well, we have finished our Riva performance upgrades to the 2023 GTR 230:

Parts:

Riva Stage 1 kit:
MAP tuner (now running at 8200 RPM)
Catch Can
Riva performance intake
Solas 159mm, 14/19 impeller (yes this requires you pull the 161mm wear ring that came with the ski)
The ski now has 20 hours on it.

Other parts installed:
Riva water box
Riva intake grate
Calas Performance valve springs and titanium retainers

Still other fun:
Shimmed supercharger to increase slip from 8 ft lbs to 12 ft lbs.

After all these changes and upgrades we still were not hitting Riva's advertised top speed.

Then I found this bulletin:

What we found was a significant difference between the 2017 GTR's ride plate

and the 2023 GTR's ride plate pictured below.

Here's the 2023 GTR ride plate after we sent it to Riva for modification:

I took the ski out: ambient temp was 90+, humidity very high (Florida), water: a little choppy, fuel level: full. Riva states you need a 70 degree day, flat water, and 1/3 tank of fuel to hit their advertised 70 MPH. I hit 65. Due to hand surgery, I haven't been back on the water yet. but my brother will be back soon, and the air temps and humidity have dropped significantly. I'll report back as soon as we can make another run in Riva's conditions.

Thank you for the detailed report, and I wish you a great recovery from that surgery!
I did notice you ran it a bit trimmed down, in my experience these skis can gain a couple mph by trimming up a bit….
