Does anyone know why this little black tags show up after certain words. They seem to lead to Ebay when i clicked on them.

Did I do something to get these and how can I get rid of them. It happens in SDF and CL too.

Oh Timmy, what trouble are you getting into now? Those little black tags are an indication that your posts are being monitored by the FBI.

Screen shot......how????

I've copied/paste a post from OCOD that has one. His profile also showed one after his Yamaha
So, I assume you guys can't see it in my first post here.......it shows up after "Ebay"

Easy fix is a tip from Minnetonka.
Take spark plug out and use it plug hose(remove hose from head) ....shows up after "Spark Plug"

it shows up after a mention of almost any part, brand, the word Ebay, etc. on which the word that come before it turns blue for a "hot link" to it.

Must be a setting somewhere, but where and how????

Tim,

Do these tags show up on more than one computer? Do they show up only on this site? I've been in IT over 25 years and honestly I couldn't even guess what it is. My brother Jake's an IT guy too, maybe he knows, other than tracking by the FBI.

Lou

They show up here on SDF and also Craigslist.
So far this is the only computer I've been on and saw them. I'll try my wife's mac laptop tonight. I have PC.

Tim,
I cannot see or replicate what you are talking about. I asked ole Duke bout it and he says try this: Bring up a screen where you see said "black tags". Do "CTRL PrtSc" (print screen) to capture your screen image. Open up the Paint application and select "Paste" to paste the captured screen image into Paint. Save that as a .jpg and upload it here so we can see what you are talking about.

Were you seeing these "black tags" BEFORE you hit your head on that pipe in the garage last year?

Jake n ole Duke.

Ya know it takes 2 seconds to post a mac screen shot...and you prolly wouldnt have this problem either..just sayin.

My wife's Mac doesn't show the tags....

I can't find "Paint" so I copied it into Word and saved it as a PDF.
It a post from Nick in his "Craigslist fail" thread the one about the used fuel selector with the 3 links to Ebay.

Rich, this just started the middle of last week. The only thing i did was download an upgrade to "Flashplayer"

This PDF does show them, I opened it to "test" view it.

Also whenever I go to Ebay I get a small pop-up in lower right corner that shows a similar item from not necessarily from e bay but from a store such as Overtons, Lowes, etc.

Tim,

I still have no idea what's going on. Did you see these flags before or after taking your medication?

Try this to get rid of them. Do a system restore to a date before you started seeing the flags. This varies a little between operating systems, open programs, open accessories, open system tools, choose system restore. Pick a date before this happened.

This won't effect your programs or files, you may need to install updates made since the restore, they will probably re-install automatically.

Lou

Lou, I assume that no one can see the Black tags but me. So i assume it my settings, I was thinking about the "restore" yesterday but never done it before. thanks for the tip.

I'll try it now.

are they just random words that looks almost like a hyperlink? (blue and underlined)

they are usually after a "part" or brand but not always....there is one after your SPX in your profile but not after the other ski GTX.
Yes, the words are blue look like a link, not underlined.

Have you tried another web browser on the same computer? See if that changes it.

Rich, thanks for the idea. I normally use firefox and right now as I'm typing I'm in IE and I don't see any black tags.
What's my next step to stay in firefox?

It's probably just a setting, the easiest way, would be to uninstall firefox, reboot, then do a re-install. You might want to run a registry cleaner, like ccleaner between the uninstall and re-install, just in case the setting is in the registry.

I have done uninstalls before but never a cleaner. Is it ccleaner.com to find it?

Do you have a good antivirus? Honestly it could be spyware or a virus of some sort... Maybe in the past you've accidentally clicked on something thinking it was one thing and it turns out to be spyware or a virus

Tim,

SDF is optimized for Firefox, which basically means if you use another browser you're gonna lose speel check. Other than that no probs.
