Good Morning all,

I have a 97 SeaDoo GTS with the 717 or 720 motor singe carb,

Sorting out some running issues on it,,

Last night I pulled the fuel tank to clean it,, No problems,

But what is the 1/2" or 5/8" line that comes up from the exhaust manifold side of the engine and terminates on top of the oil tank with a vent type cap?

and should it have water in it?

I do not have the PDF manual here at work,

Thanks Doug

morn'n chief..
nah, shouldn't have water in that line, that line is the ruturn line fron rotary assy, but ur right, does go to top of resivoir..

not water,,

Pulled the line off,, it is in fact 2 stroke oil...

sure looked like water when I saw it in the line.

Thanks all

Timmy is right...:agree:

But for a few more details, that line is the return line, coming from the rotary induction unit. That motor has a rotating valve, that specifies when each piston/cylinder gets it's charge of air/fuel mix.
That rotary valve is turned directly off the crankshaft, with a gear. That set of gears needs lubed. It functions sort of like an oil pump, and circulates the 2 stroke oil, from the tank, through the gears, and back to the tank.

You are looking at the return line.

Nate

Oil never flows through mine...is that bad?
Return Line

This is as high as it goes, the same heighth as the oil in the tank.
