We live 4.7 miles from the launch, now. It took only 20 minutes to get to the gas station, buy beer and ice, and have the boat in the water. Water was glassy and great wakeboarding. You know how when it is smooth you can get up and ride for about 20 minutes before you get tired!!!

It used to take us 2 hours to leave the house and be on the water, then another 2 hours when we were done.

Tried out the new Dewalt jobsite boombox and it worked great with my cellphone hooked up with my reggae mp3s playing.

And the boat ran tip-top all day, so it was an all-around GREAT day on the water! And we got out before getting completely sunburned!:biggrinjester:

I hope all you other seadooers are getting some good riding in this season!

Post those Pics Scoop !

This lake was 2 hours from us , but TOTALLY worth the drive. You might notice in the pics that there arent any other boats out. We couldnt have picked a better day to have some fun.

It looks a little small, but it looks clean, and the crowd is PERFECT!!!

A find like that is becoming rare in CA.

Small. Funny. I wouldn't expect anything less from a guy in TEXAS. It no 100 square miles , but its a nice lake , uncorrupted. The bass fishing is some of the best in the area . The waterski , jetski lakes are both under 15 miles from this one. They get a lot busier during the season.

I only say small because the one we are on now is about 20 miles long, and 3 miles wide.

Of course you cannot use all of it due to shallow spots, stumps, etc. So we have the areas we use and trust, and the rest is only when we feel brave and want to cruise around really slow.

But, yeah, most of the recreational lakes in Texas are quite big. There are no natural lakes here, they are all dammed rivers that flood back for miles upstream, making very large reservoirs, but often with lots of submerged trees and stumps. Great for fishing, not so much for dragging kids on innertubes or wakeboarding around.

I don't have a lot. I spend my time playing, not taking pictures. I have a couple on my cell phone.

These are at lake somerville, where we camped out a couple times with the jetski.

And a couple from Lake Houston, where we are now. Boat loaded with toys, just off the beach with my nephew playing in the water, and a couple docks off some houses we were looking at (too expensive for us )

Where the docks are is the narrowest portion of the lake. They built a railroad bridge and a regular traffic bridge in that area, and several neighborhoods in the same area. South part of lake has more undeveloped shoreline, like in the background of the pic with the surfboard on it. Lots of good fishing along these shores.

Lake Houston was dammed off of the San Jacinto River, I think as recently as the early 1950s. It is the main water supply reservoir for the Houston area, and is only about 20 minute drive from downtown. It is quickly becoming more populated around the lake, and the undeveloped areas are quickly becoming developed.

Regardless, it is relatively uncrowded. The kids like to go to Lake Conroe, about 45 minutes north, but that lake gets so crowded and rough that it is nearly impossible to ski on it.

More pics from the Berryessa day. Tubing , great weather, and hungry teenagers.

This lake is bit larger than Pardee...15 miles long and 3 miles wide. In The pictures of the kids on the tube the water is about 200ft deep . We didnt get any pictures of the " glory hole" near Monticello dam , but appx. 15 feet of the concrete shaft was showing . Thats our measuring stick for the amount of water in the lake .

I wish I was near a lake.. I go out in the bay/ocean about 5 mins away from my house is the ramp. But man its flat if no wind but hell if there is wind.. And you got all these big boats like 40+ ft yachts and you got to worry about the sea weed and tides and coast guard and bay constable.... Dont get me wrong its fun but too much stuff to worry about...

Good pics! Looks laid out like Castaic Lake surrounded by mountains. About the only lake I have been on in CA other than Havasu.

We used to ski and camp out at Blythe at Mayflower park on the river.
