Is this wear ring bad enough?

Probably have to clearance the new wear ring if the starter can't overcome the friction, is there any lube on the inside of the wear ring to help the starter out? Those impellers will rub on their new wear rings at first, which is what makes some aftermarket brands more friendly than others.

This actually worked. The impeller spins much better. Still drags a little, but it seems usable now. So, I did get an OEM neoprene ring, do I have to put the ultra black on it...really don't want too. What is the torque spec for the 4 bolts on the pump, can't seem to find it in the manual.

Yeah, it sounded that way. I was going to suggest turning the old wear ring inside out and reinstalling it, but figured you wouldn't go for that so a little lube in there sounded like the next best idea. :)

Doesn't the OE neoprene seal have sticker on the other side. If not, I think it would be easier to hold it in place with some silicone or similar before putting pump assembly back on it's place.

Finally got it back in and it fired right up. Gonna replace the carbon ring and bellows. Seems like this will get me thru the season and then I will reinspect. Thanks for all of the input. This is a great place for new jet pilots. Thanks to all, especially the guy that suggested the extra lube. Don't know why I didn't think of that. Will post a video of the results when I get to the lake.

Okay...had some setbacks for time, but finally got it in the water. After forgetting the key and having to swim back to the ramp, my beautiful bride would not throw it because she was not aware that the foam piece in her hand would float, I swam back to the abandoned boat and fired it up. Bam...first push of the button. Ran about 45ish across the lake a couple of times and then it started getting sluggish. I replaced everything on the drive line and got a good used pump with stock impeller. When I opened the hatch...several gallons of water. The bilge pump quickly cleared it. I could hear bubbles and the engine compartment was filling up pretty quick. I couldn't see any leaks. Would the black plastic tube on the pump let in that much water if not sealed correctly? Or would a new drive line parts let in water while they mate? Any thoughts?
