Finally getting back to putting my 98 gtx ltd back together after getting the engine redone by S.E.S and noticed theres no gasket to go inbetween the manifolds that the carbs mount to and the cylinder in the gasket kit and i dont see them available anywhere else, is there no need for them ? I'm sure there was a gasket there when i tore it down. I do have the gaskets for the manifold to carb connection. Thanks for any help.

I can't imagine there isn't one. Air control is crucial to proper running. I would think that it would allow air into the intake that hasn't passed through the carbs. Affecting both performance as well as creating a lean condition which can kill an engine.

Don't know the answer, just saying I would be finding or making a gasket for the setup.

Items 68 and 69 correct? Depending on who's gasket kit you bought they might not be in there. I know on an OEM kit for a 787 there is no carb mounting gaskets, they are sold separately.

No, he has those gaskets(68 and 69 above) and don't compare a 787 to a 951 with regards to the rotary/reed valve since they are night and day. He's referring to the reed valve housing and there is no gasket there. However, the reed valves have a rubber surface on the outer edges and this is your gasket that seals it perfectly when all the 10mm bolts are tightened.

So, the answer is yes and no.

Get us a pic, but there is no gasket between the carb adapters and reeds. There is a gasket between the carbs and the carb adapters. Clean out your carbs before putting them back on. Also, if the engine is out, replace your oil filter.

Fully aware of the reed cages on the 951 and I'm not comparing the two engines. His description was about as clear as mud hence the reason I ASKED are you looking at 68 and 69. So glad I decided to offer help today.

Thanks guys sorry first post wasn't too clear. Anyway i do have gaskets 68 and 69, it was between the reeds and carb adapters that i was reffering to just didn't describe it correctly sorry my bad. And yes the engine is still out so i'll replace the filter, already cleaned out carbs and replaced all the grey fuel lines. Last thing if anyone wants to add their 2 cents, oil injection pump was disco'd when i bought ski but everything is still there i would like to make this functional again since its the wifes ski. From what ive read seems the pumps are very reliable just make sure the lines are good, attached securely and bleed the air out correctly anything else ?? Thanks again for the help !

Make sure you align the pump marks so it is in sync with the throttle. I sometimes adjust the pump just a hair past the mark so it gets just a tad more oil. Especially if your a WOT junkie. Now if you idle your ski alot, just adjust it so the alignment marks line up perfectly, otherwise, you may foul a couple plugs.

Alot of users replace the oil injection lines with tygon (found at your local small engine shop) also, take a little wire, (like from a wire wheel) and push it through the injection nipples in the carb adaptors to make sure they are clear.
