I'm installing a speed sensor kit for my 2007 seadoo gti. At the end of the page it tells me to activate the speed sensor. Now can this be done at home or do I need to go to the dealer. eg. B.U.D.S

Thanks in advance

That item is a dealer installed item...I hope they don't charge you too much...
Keep us posted as I'm interested in what they do to help you. Did you buy it from that same dealer your going to?

I'm going to install it myself. It doesn't look that bad to do. I got everything I need, but at the end of the installation it says that I need to activated. I have two dealers which I'm going to call to see if they will do it for me on the side. Ill keep you posted. This base model doesn't come with a speedometer, but the wiring, instrument cluster are all ready to go, all you need is the speed sensor install on it, and presto.

Just to keep you posted. I went to my local seadoo dealer to have my speed sensor activated by B.U.D.S. They quoted me $44.50. When I got there and had it activated, he told me to not worry about the price and did it for free. Nice guy. Any ways what i didn't realize that the speed sensor also comes with a water temperature sensor. So now I have temp sensor and a speedometer set to km per hour.

New Monic...I am considering putting the Speed sensor in my 2007 GTI. Where did you buy it and approx how much was it ? When they activated it you metioned you got speed and temp on your instrument panel, did you get anything elsa like rpm or hour meter ?

Thanks

Dan

Nice moniker..
I am also considering getting the Speed sensor. The gas guage does not appear to work w/o it. Can you tell us where you got it? How much.. etc etc

Thanks.

I ended up purchasing the speed sensor from the dealer for around $70.00. I intalled it myself which was easy and comes with simple instructions to do so. The dealer did have to turn it on though and did it free of charge with the 10 hour service...The speed sensor also came with water temperature as well.

This is kind of an offhand statement, but wouldn't you prefer a GPS speed sensor?

It seems those paddle wheels are subject to break, and GPS would be more accurate.

I am currently looking to add this kit to my 2007 GTI's (which came without speed/water temp).

Where did you purchase the speed sensor? (or do you have the part info because I was having a hard time finding it online)

also how long did it take you to install it? My dealer is quoting $80 (1 hour labor) to do it. Should I just have them do so, or is it easy enough that I could do just as well of a job

Thanks

Do you know where to get such a speed sensor? and is it as easy as plugging it in like its OEM counterpart? The paddle being around 80ish dollars is a great price point for me so if the gps is much more expensive, I might pass. Plus there is the water temp thing...
