Installing a Bilge Pump on a 2011 GTI 130

We went out in the water yesterday and i thought my brother put the plugs in (idiot on my part for assuming) 15 mintutes later it dawned on me to check that and sure enough they weren't in :ack: i quickly ran and got the trailer and got it out of the water, fortunately not much water got in (I assume the plugs are a one way design?)

I drained the rest of the water with my manual bilge pump and went on with the day. I decided after that little fiasco its probably pretty good insurance to install a bilge pump, especially for how cheap they are.

my question is, where the hell do i mount the pump? i understand in the lowest part of the hull possible but there isnt much room, especially down in the V area, is it ok to glue it up a bit? it would be on an angle though.

TIA

Mines on the side of the jet pump tunnel, at a little bit of an angle but not too bad. Find a spot that you can fit the pump to, sand the hull a little (to rough it up and remove the primer stuff that's painted on by the factory), sand the bottom of the pump a little (again to roughen it up) mix up some 20 minute 2-part liquid epoxy and slather it on the spot the put the pump down on it and let it sit for an hour. Mine's held great so far, no problemo! Wire the auto wire to the battery directly with an inline fuse like 20 or 25 amps, put a rocker switch in the glove box for manual override (and then wire it to the battery also, can go thru the same inline fuse as the auto wire). Figure where you want the thru-hull fitting to go, measure 3 times drill just once please! Put the hose on it. Let the epoxy cure fully overnight then take a waterhose and start putting water into the hull till the auto bilge pump kicks on and you can verify it's operation. I have pics in a thread on here from last spring.

My 600 gph SeaSense auto bilge pump came from Acadamy Sports and Outdoors store, I bought a chromed 90 degree thru-hull fitting off Ebay and I already had a small lighted red rocker switch just sitting around which I put in the front of my glove box. Works like a charm!

ps. The bailers/drain-cocks are kinda sorta 1-way there are little balls in there that inhibit water from flowing into the hull thru them but they don't seem to do a very good job lotsa people every season come on here after they sank their Seadoo because somebody didn't put the drain-cock plugs in... so I don't think I'd rely on those little 1-way balls in the bailers. They don't sink really fast, but they do seem to sink slowly if left alone and unattended for a bit with the drain-cock plugs hanging out.

thanks for the info man, thats awesome! dumb question, do these bilge pumps have a override switch wire that i can connect it to? from the looks of these pictures it looks like there is only the positive/neutral wire for the auto pumps. is there a lead wire somewhere or do i need to crack it open and solder wires to the float switch?

i also plan on getting a new battery so i dont have to worry about it draining it too far. any chance you can dig up your forum post showing your install?

I just installed a SeaSense 800 GPH bilge pump in my RXT and like Michael, purchased it from Academy Sports. This model comes with three wires for both a manual and auto mode and I mounted the manual switch on a panel under the seat. On the same panel, I mounted a battery isolator switch to enable me to use a battery tender.
