i was wondering if this is easily done without the tool?i was changing the jet pump oil and noticed i have a bend on one of my blades and id like to straighten before i put everything back together.ski is a 96 gsx

I don't think you'll get the impeller off without a tool. However, you can probably find one locally. I work at a Cadillac dealership and the techs. at work have them, I think they use them for transmissions. So if you know a professional mechanic you could maybe borrow one, or Harbor Freight, Mac Tool Dealer???

i have a buddy who does tranmissions ill give him a ring see if he has anything.i was hoping i could get out of having to buy one,i do need to run to the dealer tho as i also discovered my orings are missing on the nozzle and where the jet pump meets the hull

Got both impellers off it was easy just use an old drive shaft and a pipe wrench. Not sure this method will work on all skis but it did for mine

Cut both ends off the old driveshaft, and weld a handle onto each, you'll then have 2-impellor tools....:)

that's how i did it old driveshaft the thing is though you could buy 3 or 4 of those tools for the price your driveshafts worth that your gonna ruin lol. half a dozen one way 6 the other.

I'll prolly invest in one the next time I have to remove it. One question on the pump tho I can't tell if I'm leaking fluid at the cone oring or from behind the impeller at the seal when I popped the cone off all the old stuff got everywhere and I dnt wanna put it back on and seize the pump.I'm currently out lookin for new cone orings at Lowes or ace hardware but is it possible for pump to leak behind the impellor

It is possible for water to get in from the back of the impeller but its rare. The old pump oil is usually black. If it came out gray there's water in the oil. Usually you only need to replace the O ring on the cone. You might be able to find one at an auto parts store, the best place would be the SeaDoo dealer. I work at a car dealership and I found a Volvo O ring that was real close, that I used until I could get an OEM.

I use Mobile Full Synthetic, LS1 75W90 GL5 gear oil for pump oil.

All the oil that came out was black almost looked like coffee.I was just wondering on that seal behind the impeller cuz I wasn't sure if the impeller is what keeps that seal seated if so I might torque the impeller down more. As for the oil that's exactly what i got aswell to put back in

to be honest idk if u can adjust that but u can buy an anti-rattle cone that is spring loaded that will help with the play
