Impeller shaft trouble

On here again lol. So I ordered a new jet pump, going to put the impeller shaft back in & it’ll slide through with ease without the trust washer and bearing but once I seat the washer and bearing, I can’t get my impeller shaft to slide through very easy. Once I get the impeller shaft in, the washer jumps up on one side and doesn’t seat properly. I don’t get it because the washer fits perfectly on the impeller shaft and seats properly when the shaft isn’t in. Any help? Thanks

I'll take a stab, but don't quote me on this.....

If the thrust washer is seating in the pump recess and sliding over the shaft then the dimensions for inner and outer are correct.

However.

Is the inner hole centered in the middle of the washer? My guess would be you have some poor quality control issues in that part. I ordered a pump rebuild kit and was pretty disappointed to find the thrust washer outer edge was not machined at all and was a hair too big to let the washer set down in the pump recess.

If a poorly centered inner hole is the problem this is not the end of the world. Be patient and see where the thick edge is and gently run a file over the outer edge to fit things. If you get it to fit then be sure the bearing pins are solidly supported on the washer surface. Make sure you don't damage the washer face or leave a slight lip on the edge you filed.
