Impeller Removal Tool

Do I really need this tool. Is it worth spending 40 bucks? I need to replace my wear ring so do I need to remove the impeller. I've heard of people doing so without removing the housing and all that. I want to do it right though. Please help. I'm broke and the dealers are a rip off.

You can put it into the freezer to "shrink it" - about 45-60 minutes then try to pull it out with vice grips.

I tried this but it did not work - mainly because I think my wear ring is so badly damaged it's catching on the opposite side of the prop.

I found a impeller pull tool for a GTX for $18.00 @ A&D Discount.

My local dealer charged me $41 labor to remove it and insert new wear ring and put it back together again so you may want to give your local dealer a call.
