Impeller leading edge

I would guess that these nicks in the leading edge's would cause cavitation and can any one advise if the drive shaft protector needs to be straight. You can see that it is set off to one side.

yep... the leading edge is OK. If you have big dents... you just file them clean.

As far as the drive shaft protector... they normally cause more issues than they solve. If you ever pull the pump... remove the D-shaft protector.
 
I plan on pulling the pump for a bearing rebuild and looking at installing a swirl impeller as I'm have a spinning issue under load. Where and how do you measure the wear ring?
 
You measure the gap between the impeller, and the ring. more than 0.040", and it's time to replace it.
 
get that blue thing off of there. I can't imagine how much HP that wastes. I've never even heard of a drive shaft protector, let alone driveshaft damage.. and I've owned ski's since 1993.
