Ok Someone might have a good idea so Ill throw it up here.

Working on a 720, buddy broke off the nipple on the oil pump and so we changed out the entire intake manifold, oil pump, etc.

We got it all together and the mag side line isnt pumping very hard. Hooked to the manifold it wont come up, unhooked from the manifold it pumps but seems to struggle. Shut the engine off and the oil runs back to the oil pump.

So of course we swapped out a couple banjo fittings/check valves. Doesnt fix it. So we pulled it all apart again and replaced the oil pump...thats got to be it right??

Nope.

Freaking 2nd oil is doing the EXACT same thing. I had checked the valves before we put it on, they were working correctly. We even pulled that valve off again just to check it.

At this point we have spent 5 hours on this issue. Worst thing it isnt even my machine!! Its a twin engine boat and I had the owner replace the oil lines b/c we had just rebuilt the carbs. We just replaced the other motor and cant put the pipe and fire it up until we figure out this issue.

We'll replace the line just for shits and giggles tomorrow before we tear the manifold off for the 3rd time.

Time to drink heavily.

Just took a couple barley pops...and a word of advise...never work with anyone else. Touch everything yourself.

What was the stupid idiotic problem? Winner gets a free Westside Powersports oven mitt!!! (may take 13-14 years to arrive...lol)

check valves in the oil nozzles in the RV cover, to prevent air from replacing oil that would bleed out if it did not have check valves.

Let's wait and see, the Official Westside Ove' Glove. Handling all the problems! Lol

swap lines at the nozzles, if the other side bleeds oil back to pump, then mag side nozzle check valve is defective

Matt was the closest...I was going to just align his rebuilt motor then quickly realized the guy had no ability to be working on his boat. I will give him credit though he did deal with the crappy intake manifold bolts 3 times and changing out banjo fittings with it installed.

What happened is I had him put the new tygon oil lines on himself. Well...he overcut the ziptie and nicked the oil line. Even worse the 5 times he touched that line he did not discover it. What I really dont understand is why I never saw or felt a drop of oil I checked down there a few times.

When you get to this point in troubleshooting...stepping away and forgetting about it for a little bit helps. When you come back to it think KISS keep it simple stupid.

Lol the problem is always what you think is right and disregarded as a potential problem :P

Good find.

Its a cursed boat!! LOL I could not get the fuel to quit leaking out of the bomb sights!! We bent the levers down pretty far but it would still just randomly leak on all 4 carbs. Hopefully its not a problem on the water so the engines dont vibrate quite as bad. Hard to believe with 50lb of pop off.
