If the bendix won't engage you must flip it

I learned this the hard way today. It is quite easy to out the starter in the casing upside down. I know this seems crazy but if you do this the starter will turn the right way but the bendix will not engage the flywheel. Just thought Id throw this one to the group.

Also when you replace the starter I found it to be a good idea to use heat shrink tubing on the postitive post near the base. I had to replace the brushes in my starter, rather than pay 80 dollars for a new one. It was super easy if your starter is the problem I can help you with rebuilding it. Give me a shout.
