I have been trouble shooting and fixing issues on my 2001 GTX for two years now. Ski probably has not been on the water for at least 4 years. Just when I thought I had everything fixed the worst has happened.
I finally put everything back together putting on the tuned pipe last. I did not put loctite on the bolts as I wasn't sure everything would work. Mistake #1 I think. I took the ski out on the LI Sound and everything seemed to be running fine. The ski would idle at 3000 RPM on the trailer. I put in the water and adjusted the rpm to about 1400. Once that was all done I headed out through the no wake zone. She ran fine, I didn't even have to give it any throttle to get through the zone about 3 minutes.
I pushed the ski at half throttle for about 15 minutes and things started going bad. I head metallic clanking in the bilge and the ski began to bog down and wouldn't accelerate. I didn't go far from the dock so I was able to limp back. Once I got tied to the pier I took off the seat and found the exhaust manifold hanging off. All the bolts were in the bottom of the bilge. Also the PTO carb was hanging off, its bolts too shook loose. None of the bolts sheared off they all just shook loose.
Due to work and other responsibilities I was not able to get everything back together for about 10 days. Now that it is all back together the engine wont turn over. Battery is fully charged, Dess key produces 2 beeps but when I hit the starter button I can here a click in the rear electrical box and the PTO fly wheel moves just enough to see it jerk but that's it.
I removed spark plugs and tried to turn it by hand and it would not budge. I am thinking I may have bent the shaft or something with all the vibration. Problem is I don't know where to go from here. Do I pull the impeller off and see if it will turn, do I need special tools to do that. I don't have any of the specialty tools the shop manual talks about. Any help on where to start would be greatly appreciated.
